Arizona LLC Naming Rules
Arizona's naming rules come from A.R.S. § 29-3112 and related sections. Your name needs to clear three tests before the Arizona Corporation Commission will accept it:
- Include a designator — "Limited Liability Company," "Limited Company," "LLC," or "L.L.C."
- Be distinguishable from every other business name on file with the ACC.
- Not use corporate or restricted words — no "corporation," "incorporated," "association," or their abbreviations, and no restricted words (bank, trust, credit union) without agency approval.
Swapping the designator alone won't make a name distinguishableArizona explicitly treats a name that merely swaps its entity-type designator — changing "LLC" to "Inc.," for instance — as the same name as an existing one. If your first choice is taken, change a real word, rearrange the word order, or add a genuinely distinctive term rather than tweaking the designator or punctuation.
