What Colorado Requires
Every Colorado LLC must continuously maintain a registered agent listed with the Secretary of State. The requirements are straightforward:
- Physical Colorado street address — a P.O. box alone doesn't qualify; the agent needs a real, physical in-state location.
- Reliably receive legal documents — arrange prompt receipt and forwarding. Ordinary business-hour coverage is a practical consideration, not an additional eligibility test stated here.
- Eligible individual or entity, with consent — apply the current ID/residency verification, in-state location and entity good-standing requirements.
- Owner, other qualifying agent, or the LLC itself after registration — the LLC must initially appoint another eligible agent, then file a change to select itself while in good standing.

If your situation changes — you move, stop wanting your home address public, or your agent service isn't working out — you can update your registered agent any time by filing a Statement of Change with the Secretary of State online.
The registered-agent name and address appear in Colorado’s public entity record. Another qualifying agent or a commercial service may let you use that agent’s address for this role, but it does not remove every owner, manager or business address from public filings.
