Every Alaska LLC must name a registered agent with a physical in-state address — the person or company who receives lawsuits and official state mail on your behalf. Alaska allows you to serve as your own agent if you're an Alaska resident, but there's a real privacy trade-off to weigh first.
An Alaska registered agent must have a physical Alaska street address (no P.O. boxes) under AS 10.50.055. If you're an Alaska resident, you can serve as your own agent for free — otherwise, or if you'd rather not be publicly listed, a commercial registered agent runs roughly $100–$150/year. Alaska Registered Agent Requirements
Under Alaska Stat. § 10.50.055, your registered agent must:
- Have a physical Alaska street address — a P.O. box alone doesn't qualify.
- Be an individual Alaska resident, or a domestic or foreign corporation/LLC authorized to transact business in Alaska.
- Be available to accept legal papers — service of process — and forward official state mail promptly.
- Agree to the role before designation — you name them on your Articles of Organization, but they should confirm first.
