The registered office must be a real Wyoming street location where service can be accepted—not a P.O. box, virtual address, mail-forwarding location, or UPS/FedEx store. What a Wyoming Registered Agent Does
A registered agent is the official point of contact that receives lawsuits, subpoenas, and state notices on behalf of your LLC, then forwards them to you. Naming one is mandatory — you'll list your agent's name and Wyoming address right on your Articles of Organization, and Wyoming won't approve the filing without it.
Wyoming sets clear requirements for who can serve and what counts as a registered office:
- A physical Wyoming street location — where an individual can accept service during normal business hours.
- No P.O. boxes, drop boxes, virtual addresses, mail-forwarding locations, UPS or FedEx stores. Wyoming says these do not qualify as a registered office.
- You can be your own agent if you are at least 18, reside in Wyoming, have a qualifying physical Wyoming address and a valid email address, and can meet the registered-office availability requirement.
- Or appoint a qualifying business entity / professional service. A business entity serving as agent must be registered and in good standing with the Wyoming Secretary of State. Provider pricing varies.

Wyoming's registered-agent rules go beyond simply listing an address. The Secretary of State says a registered agent keeps specified information at the registered office, including key-individual information for domestic Wyoming entities and a communications contact for the represented entity.
- Key-individual records: names and addresses of LLC managers, members or persons serving in a similar capacity for applicable domestic Wyoming entities.
- Communications contact: a natural person authorized to receive communications from the registered agent, with the required contact information.
- Continuous coverage: domestic and foreign businesses must continuously maintain a registered agent.
- Changing agents: the Secretary of State currently lists a $5 filing fee for an entity filing an Appointment of New Registered Agent and Office.

The agent affects the address shown in the registered-agent field. A commercial agent can keep the owner’s home address out of that field. Organizer names, other submitted addresses and separate records may still identify an owner; the service does not make the entire filing anonymous.
