Georgia LLC Registered Agent — Step 2 of 8
Appoint a qualifying Georgia registered agent and maintain the required in-state office. An eligible owner, another qualifying individual or entity, or a commercial provider may serve. Choose reliable receipt and forwarding of legal documents.
For a domestic Georgia LLC, the agent may be a Georgia-resident individual, a domestic corporation or another domestic LLC, or an authorized foreign corporation or LLC. Maintain a physical Georgia registered office identical to the agent’s business office. The LLC cannot name itself as agent.

What Georgia Requires
Every Georgia LLC must continuously maintain a registered agent listed with the Secretary of State. The requirements are straightforward:
- Physical Georgia street address — a P.O. box alone doesn't qualify; the agent needs a real, physical in-state location.
- Reliable document receipt — plan prompt handling and forwarding. Do not treat this practical recommendation as a separate statutory eligibility category.
- Georgia resident (18+) or registered GA entity — if you're an out-of-state individual or business, you must have a Georgia business office instead.
- Can be you, a co-owner, or a hired service — Georgia allows self-service as long as you meet the address and availability rules.

Changing Your Registered Agent Later
Update the agent through Georgia’s annual registration, or an amended annual registration after the current year’s registration has been filed. CD920 instructions list a $20 filing fee plus $10 service charge for the amended registration. Confirm the selected channel’s total; there is no universal standalone $10 agent-change filing.
The registered-agent name and address are public. Appointing another eligible agent may allow use of that agent’s address for this role, but it does not remove every business, owner or manager address from public filings.
- ✓Confirm registered-agent eligibility, coverage, included periods and renewal charges.
- ✓Optional formation assistance; confirm filing scope, service pricing and submission responsibilities.
- ✓Review address-use rules and privacy policies; a service does not remove all information from public filings.

Change the Agent Through the Correct Filing
Use the annual registration if it has not yet been filed for the current period. Otherwise use an amended annual registration. Follow CD920’s $20 filing fee plus $10 service-charge instructions and confirm the current channel’s total.
