Connecticut's Naming Rules
Connecticut's LLC Act (Uniform Limited Liability Company Act) keeps naming requirements fairly conventional:
- Must include a designator — "Limited Liability Company," "LLC," "L.L.C.," or "Ltd. Liability Co."
- Must be distinguishable from every other business entity on file with the Connecticut Secretary of the State — active businesses, reserved names, and registered names alike.
- Can't falsely imply a government affiliation or a different entity type than it actually is.
- Restricted words like "Bank," "Insurance," or "University" may need extra approval or licensing before use.
