Arkansas LLC Registered Agent — Step 2 of 8
Every Arkansas LLC must have someone designated to receive legal documents and official state mail — this is your registered agent. You can serve as your own, or hire a commercial service. Here's exactly what's required and how to decide.
An Arkansas registered agent must have a physical Arkansas street address (no P.O. boxes) and be available during regular business hours to accept documents, under A.C.A. § 4-20-105 and § 4-38-115. Any Arkansas resident 18 or older, or a registered business entity in the state, can serve — including you or a fellow LLC member. Going 60+ consecutive days without a valid agent risks administrative dissolution.

Arkansas Registered Agent Requirements
Under A.C.A. § 4-20-105 and § 4-38-115, your registered agent must:
- Have a physical Arkansas street address — no P.O. boxes accepted, since documents must be deliverable in person.
- Be an Arkansas resident 18 or older (if an individual), or a registered business entity already authorized to do business in Arkansas.
- Be available during regular business hours at the listed address to accept service of process and official mail.
- Consent to the role and agree to forward received documents to the LLC's last known address promptly.

Changing your agent later is freeUnlike some states that charge for a registered agent update, Arkansas lets you file a Notice of Change of Registered Agent Information at no cost, online or by mail. This makes it low-risk to start with a DIY approach and switch to a commercial service later if your situation changes.
